Inspired by the treasure discovered in the present-day Akhalgori municipality in 1908, the knife is named 'Akhalgori – Guardian of Treasure' (Akhalgoruli in Georgian, meaning 'from Akhalgori'). The items included in the Akhalgori treasure testify the advanced artistic craftsmanship in Georgia during the middle of the 1st millennium BC.
